Program

Hugo Cho (performer and choreographer) and Choi Chi Wei (Chinese Opera Actor) from Hong Kong will create works during their residency inspired by traditional performing art, history, and culture of Naha and Bise in Okinawa. They will invite two Japanese artists as collaborators, Yuka Ogata (choreographer of Contemporary dance and Kagura (sacred dancing performed at a shrine)) and Remon Nakanishi (performer, visual artist, and researcher of the local performing arts).
In Naha, 4 artists from Hong Kong and Japan will hold dance workshops which local people can participate.
In Sapporo, their work “三岔口――SAMCHAHOU”will be performed as work-in-progress performance at the end of residence, also will have a forum to spread importance of ‘Artists in Residence’.
